In our never ending search and development of high quality, reasonably priced protective eyewear, we occasionally come across a factory sample that upon initial inspection we say WOW. But, as we progress through the qualification protocol and design verification process, more often than not, a problem appears that disqualifies it. It could range from poor quality frame, poor ballistic characteristcs to a problematic finish to poor lens retention in the frame. That's why we only add 5 to 10 new models a year to offer our customers. We demand high quality at a reasonable price. That's no easy process considering the thousands of variations available today. When the 426M came into our hands, it was WOW, with the usual reservations, until we plowed through our protocol. It was double WOW after that. The 426M is a modern and clean design. The frame around the lens is very thin, almost giving it the appearance of a rimless sunglass, which usually spells trouble when it comes to lens retention. But, to our surprise the lens retention exceeded that of most of our other models, including some combat sunglasses. The reason? The lens and frame are a tongue and groove design. The frame where the lenses sit have a centered tongue that tightly holds the lens, which has the groove. This is a feature found on very high-end, very expensive sunglasses. In the final analysis after checking and re-checking ballistic properties, we knew we had a winner of a product. The lenses are 2.2 millimeter decentered ballistic polycarbonate with an 8 base curvature. Combined with the wrap back of the frame, these provide excellent side protection not normally seen in metal frame glasses. The decentered lenses provide absolute distortion free viewing from most every angle. The lenses also provide full UV400 ultraviolet ray protection. The frame finish is perfection. The finish is consistent with eyewear priced in the $100 plus range, it's that good. They are polished by hand to a full shiny finish, then plated in its final color. The frame finish/lens combinations available: - POLISHED SILVER CHROME FRAME, FULL MIRRORED LENSES: The lenses are dark smoke and fully silver mirrored. The temple ends are dark smoke. - POLISHED GOLD FRAME, DARK BROWN DRIVING LENS: These are NOT mirrored lenses on the gold model. The temple ends are simulated tortoise shell finish. VERY SHARP. Excellent blue light blocking characteristics without color distortion. - POLISHED DARK CHROME, FULL MIRRORED LENSES: Sometimes referred to gun metal frames. The lenses are dark smoke tint. The lenses are full silver mirrored. The 426M has spring hinges that allow for a perfect and comfortable fit on a broad range of head sizes, from small to large. And when folded, due to the design, the temple ends do not touch the lenses, which eliminates any potential wear problems on the lenses. We provide a lined leather-like pouch to protect your sunglasses. It can be folded and slipped into a pocket while you're wearing your sunglasses so you don't have to hang a case from your belt or try to shove it into a pocket or purse.
