The inside is lined to protect your lenses from scratches. Our M1030 series aviators are our number one selling sunglasses by a very wide margin. The aviator look is coming back in style again. And why shouldn't they? They look good on virtually any facial structure. It's not like buying wrap-around sunglasses where some look good and others don't. Aviators simply look good on everyone. That's why they have never completely gone away in almost 70 years. And don't think you're going to get some kind of second rate quality sunglass at this price. Our hand polished frames give a sharp high-end finished look and our lenses provide full UV400 ultra-violet ray protection. Our frames are optical quality designed specifically for polycarbonate ballistic lenses. The temple arm hinges are screwed in place, not riveted or stamped, for a long life of trouble-free wear. Select from four frame finishes: Gold - Highly polished, traditional favorite. Silver Chrome - Highly reflective quality finish. Gun Metal - Unique neutral finish in high gloss finish. Black - A traditional favorite. The lens tint is a dark neutral slate gray that allows less than 20% light transmission which is the recommended level for private, military and commercial pilots. And, it will not distort colors. If you're looking for darker tint sunglasses and have not been satisfied with gray lenses in the past, you'll love these lenses. The quality of our lenses is where we separate the dime store junk from our M1030 sunglasses. That's why we call them military grade. Our lenses are produced from 2.1 mm shatter-resistant polycarbonate, the same material and thickness used on most of our ballistic combat goggles, so you can be certain you're getting maximum protection. These are not the thin flimsy .65 or.75 lenses like cheaper models at your local gas station. They tend to pop out of the frame when you sneeze. Those products are a dime a dozen. Over time the flexing of the lenses causes the frame to distort and suddenly, for no apparent reason, a lens falls out. That won't happen with our M1030. In fact, if you try to pop the lens out of the frame, you'll have a lot problems doing it, and by the time you do, the frame will most likely be destroyed. Our lens to frame fit is precise and designed to remain firmly in place. No, they are not heavy like some tempered glass sunglasses, nor are they clunky. They are lightweight and the wire formed temple arms match original military issue designs. You'll find you can wear these sunglasses all day without the dreaded nose pad pain digging into the bridge of your nose that glass lens designs are so known for. Like we said, the M1030 series is our number one selling aviator model and we can count on one hand the number of returns because customers didn't like them. And of those who did, the reason for their return ranges from the 'lenses are too small' to 'the lenses are too big'. Based on that feedback from a handful of customers, we think we got the lens size just right on this model. Each lens runs top to bottom at about 2 1/8" high, and from left to right at the widest point about 2 1/2" wide. This is the traditional size of pilot aviators over the last 65 years and closely match the original military issue aviator design. But, if you want a slightly smaller lens with spring hinges, take a look at our M1015 below. They're the same quality with a slightly smaller frame and lens design, but the spring hinges on the temples allow for a perfect fit on any head size from small all the way up to and including large.
